Privacy Policy

Product Image Finder ("we", "us", or "the App") is a Shopify application that helps merchants discover product images for use in their online store. This policy sets out what data we collect, how it is used, and the obligations merchants take on by installing the App.

1

What We Store — and Why

The App holds only the minimum data required to function. Installing the App grants us access to:

  • Your store domain and Shopify shop ID — to scope all data to your store
  • Your Shopify access token — used exclusively to upload approved images on your behalf
  • Product titles, metadata, and IDs — to power image search queries
  • A log of images found, reviewed, and uploaded — so your queue persists between sessions

We have no access to your customers. Buyer names, emails, addresses, and payment details are never collected, stored, or visible to us.

2

How Your Data Powers the App

Every piece of data we hold exists to deliver one thing: relevant product images, uploaded directly to your store. Specifically, your data enables us to:

  • Run image searches keyed to your actual product titles
  • Push your chosen images to the correct Shopify product listing
  • Persist your search queue and results across browser sessions
  • Diagnose and resolve support requests efficiently
  • Measure and improve search accuracy over time

Your data is never sold, rented, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose outside the App's core functionality.

3

Image Rights Are Your Responsibility

The App surfaces images from publicly accessible sources. We do not create, own, license, or vet any of them. Uploading an image to your Shopify store is an action you take — and with it comes full legal responsibility.

Before you upload, understand that:

  • Verification is on you. Confirm that any image is cleared for commercial use before uploading. We make no guarantee — explicit or implied — that images are royalty-free, trademark-safe, or licensed for resale contexts.
  • You carry the copyright risk. Infringement claims, DMCA notices, and any legal action from rights holders are solely your liability, regardless of where the image was sourced.
  • We are not liable for uploaded content. Product Image Finder bears no direct or indirect responsibility for claims, losses, or expenses arising from images you choose to upload through the App.
  • You agree to indemnify us. By using the App you agree to defend and hold harmless Product Image Finder, its owners and employees, against any claim or cost arising from your use of uploaded images.
  • Uncertainty means don't upload. When image rights are unclear, err on the side of caution — use your own photography or a properly licensed stock platform.

Nothing in this policy constitutes legal advice. For questions about licensing or IP obligations, consult a qualified legal professional.

4

Tools & Infrastructure We Rely On

We use a small set of established third-party services to run the App. Each operates under its own privacy policy and we are not responsible for their data practices.

  • Shopify — store access and image upload via the Shopify Admin API
  • Brave Search — web image discovery; only search query strings are sent, no personal or store data is shared
  • Amazon S3 (AWS) — temporary holding of image files before delivery to your store

5

How We Protect What You Share

Merchant data lives in an encrypted PostgreSQL database behind access controls and encrypted connections. We follow a minimal-retention principle: we keep only what is needed, for only as long as it is needed.

Data associated with your store is retained for the duration of the App's installation. Uninstalling the App triggers our compliance webhooks and you may separately request full deletion of your store's records by contacting us.

6

Your Privacy Rights & Our Compliance Obligations

We implement Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks and honour data subject requests in line with GDPR and applicable privacy regulations. On request, we will:

  • Supply a full export of any personal data held for your store
  • Permanently delete data tied to your store or to a specific customer
  • Erase all records following uninstallation, upon written request

Requests are processed within 30 days of receipt.
